Fed cattle trade in the Southern and Northern Plains were higher compared to last week. Feeder cattle and stocker cattle also rose. Both live cattle and feeder cattle future were higher with dressed cutouts being lower. Corn was higher as well.
Fed cattle trade in the south was $2 higher at $185 while in the north it rose $3.00 to $187. The feeder steer national average was $247.05, an increase of $1.75 with most trade being $2 lower to $3 higher. Stocker cattle averaged $285.32 which was $1.04 higher with trade $2 lower to $4 higher.
The feeder cattle index was $245.53, rising $2.27 from last week. The Choice cutout was $3.50 lower at $296.69 and the Select cutout dropped by $6.51 to $282.08. This widened the spready by $3.01 to $14.61. Cutter cows were $278.30, which was $3.73 lower. Slaughter cows were $6 lower to $2 higher and total red meat production was estimated at 1,070.5 million lb.
