DENVER— Cameron Ison has been honored as the 2024 Outstanding Junior Member, recognizing his dedication to the Red Angus breed and his significant contributions to the betterment of the national Junior Red Angus Association over the past year.
Ison, the son of Rob Ison and Jenny Wallin, hails from Paducah, Kentucky, and has been involved with Red Angus for over a decade. His dedication and passion for the breed have been fueled by exhibiting Red Angus cattle from the local to national levels. As a member of the Junior Red Angus board, Ison played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Kentucky-Tennessee Junior Red Angus Association. He has continued to devote his time and talents to promoting the growth and success of Red Angus activities across the nation, fostering strong relationships with producers and fellow junior members.
“Cameron Ison embodies the characteristics that make him a deserving recipient of the Outstanding Junior Award,” said Kentucky Junior Red Angus advisor, Reba Prather. “His dedication to the future of the beef industry and the Red Angus breed is evident through his tireless efforts and involvement. Cameron has gone above and beyond in his role, demonstrating exceptional initiative, passion and commitment to advancing the breed.”
Currently a sophomore studying agriculture at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas, Ison remains actively involved with the Junior Red Angus Association and other organizations. His participation in the Southeast Red Angus Association, the Kentucky-Tennessee Red Angus Association and his role as a sales representative for Sale Day Online Ag & Livestock Auctions highlight his commitment to the agriculture industry.
Ison was honored with the Outstanding Junior Member award at the inaugural Red Angus Youth Expo, held in Chickasha, Oklahoma, this past June. His achievements were further recognized at the 71st Annual National Red Angus Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska.
“[The Outstanding Junior Member] should embody the qualities of a leader and be a role model for all JRA members,” says Taylor Dorsey, RAAA junior program coordinator. “We are excited to continue developing and showcasing this prestigious award. Nominations for next year’s Outstanding Junior Award will open in the spring of 2025.”
