In August, the Fall No Progeny was flagged for review. It’s essential to report on cows included, as there is no record of their Fall 2023 calf crop. For females on the list, consider the following questions to determine the next steps:
- Did she have a calf? If so, report all the calf data even if the calf was born dead or died shortly after birth.
- Was she open? If yes, report the appropriate reason code.
- Was she culled? If yes, report the correct disposal code.
One of these data points must be reported as soon as possible to avoid inactivations. This deadline is crucial for data reporting. If missed and the cow becomes inactivated, you will need to report the required data points and pay a reactivation fee. If reactivated within six months, the fee is $50. After six months, the fee increases to $100. For detailed instructions, refer to the tutorial on How to submit the no progeny report.
Fall 2023 data is due Friday, Oct. 18 and inactivations will be Oct. 25, 8 a.m. MDT.
