Summer marks peak supply for many of the nation’s fed cattle inventory. Ranchers and cattle feeders are reviewing carcass data and closeouts from last year’s calves. Using this data, progressive producers can enhance breeding and management decisions to better their cow herds and overall operations. RAAA has created the Grid Master Award to honor cattlemen who excel in using advanced Red Angus genetics, superior feeding management , and precise marketing techniques to deliver exceptional cattle to the market.

Red Angus or Red Angus-influenced cattle enrolled in the Feeder Calf Certification Program or Allied Access are eligible for the Grid Master Award. Cattle must have been harvested between July 1, 2024, and Sept. 1, 2025. Both conventionally and naturally fed cattle qualify.

Conventionally fed cattle must be marketed in groups of at least 30 head, achieve a minimum of 90% Choice and Prime grades, have a no more than of 20% Yield Grade 4s and 5s and attain a minimum grid score of 100. Naturally fed cattle must also be in groups of 30 or more, reach at least 90% Choice and Prime grades, have no more than 25% Yield Grade 4s and 5s and acheive a minimum grid score of 100.

RAAA will recognize Grid Master winners in the Red Angus Magazine, and honor them at the 72nd National Red Angus Convention Sept. 9-11 in Loveland, Colorado.
