We hope everyone returned home safely after the convention and is enjoying a productive fall. The annual convention was a great success, filled with engaging activities and opportunities to connect. From the opening reception to the educational sessions, attendees enjoyed valuable networking and gained insights into the latest industry trends. The camaraderie and shared passion for the Red Angus breed were evident throughout the week, setting a positive tone for all events.
Here’s a quick recap of the Red Angus Stakeholders Foundation activities during the convention and over the past year:
Golf Tournament – Loveland, Colorado
We hosted a very successful golf tournament at the Olde Course in Loveland, Colorado. Special thanks to Chase and his team for their help in organizing the event. This tournament requires months of planning, beginning with venue coordination and moving into securing sponsors and participants.
We’re grateful for our generous supporters:
- 21 Hole Sponsors
- 8 Bronze Sponsors
- 2 Silver Sponsors
- 1 Flag Sponsor
- 1 Golf Ball Sponsor
Participation can be one of the most challenging aspects, but we had a strong showing this year with 44 golfers (11 teams). Each hole featured special prizes or games, and we awarded payouts to the top 4 teams and 2 special prize winners. It was a beautiful day filled with fun and fundraising – we raised $6,500 for the Foundation!
Dummy Team Roping and Long Reach Contest
Following the golf tournament, we hosted a team roping event right at the hotel. Thanks to two generous sponsors, we were able to organize another well-attended activity. Proceeds from this event also went to the Foundation.
Red Angus Stakeholders Foundation Auction
Our final event of the convention was the Foundation Auction, held Wednesday evening after the Commercial Cattlemen’s Symposium. The auction featured a wide array of high-quality items — most notably, a Pick of the Herd from Cross Diamond Cattle Company, which was purchased by Bottomley Cattle Company for $40,000 to kick off the night. The auction raised a total of $76,000, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and buyers.
Where Your Support Goes
All funds raised during the year support one of three core areas of the Red Angus Stakeholders Foundation:
- Junior Red Angus Fund
Supports Junior programs of the Red Angus Association of America, helping foster the next generation of cattlemen and women. - Research and Development Fund
Currently backing a Hair Shedding and Fertility project at the University of Missouri, as well as wrapping up a Commercial Carcass Data project with Sustainable Beef. Questions about current or future projects? Reach out to AJ Knowles, who also maintains a wish list for upcoming research. - General Fund
An unrestricted fund that supports a range of initiatives as needed, including Junior programs, research, and other mission-aligned projects.
The Red Angus Stakeholders Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to support the Red Angus breed, following the Core Policies established by the Red Angus Association of America Board of Directors. The Foundation operates under the guidance of the Association’s Board.
You can contribute in a number of meaningful ways:
- Direct donations
- Memorial or planned giving to honor a loved one
- Participation in fundraising events throughout the year
We accept donations year-round – you don’t have to wait for the convention to support the Foundation. We invite and challenge every member of the Red Angus community to consider how they can help grow the Foundation. Together, we can advance research, education, and promotion efforts that support what we already know – Red Angus cattle are one of the greatest breeds in the world.
