While you are likely aware of Red Angus Association of America’s partnership with International Genetic Solutions to bring producers better, more accurate genetic selection tools, did you know that the Red Angus Stakeholders’ Foundation supports research efforts across a wide variety of institutions to identify new and exciting trends and traits impacting your bottom line?

The RASF board meets regularly to hear project updates, review new research proposals and discuss the merits of the projects as they relate to Red Angus specifically. Once projects are approved, researchers and the RAAA Breed Improvement Department work together to achieve project goals and integrate the results into new and existing genetic selection tools. By actively participating in research, RAAA will remain at the forefront of genetic development and continue to grow as the preferred breed for commercial cattle producers.

Current Projects:

  1. Hair Shedding EPD Development – University of Missouri
  2. Claw & Angle EPD Development – Colorado State University
  3. Identifying Selection Signatures in Multiple Angus Populations– Purdue University
  4. Exercise Induced Collapse Genetic Condition – University of Nebraska
  5. Identification of SNPs associated with fertility parameters – University of Missouri
  6. Collection of Commercial Carcass Data – Internal, RAAA
