As part of the RAAA National Convention, the State of the Association address provides members with an update on the operations, progress, and future direction of the Red Angus Association of America. For those unable to attend, this recap highlights the key points shared
during the session.

This year’s convention combined networking, fellowship, and fundraising in support of the Red Angus Stakeholders Foundation. Popular events included the 2nd annual golf tournament, dummy team roping and long reach contest, as well as the Pick of the Herd and Live Auction.

Following convention, the Foundation Board met to discuss promotional planning, strategic initiatives, and new fundraising opportunities to further its mission of supporting research, development and junior programs.

Member Services & Technology

Our commitments are to continue to find ways to improve our services and maintain turnaround times to the best of our abilities. However, we do ask for our members to do their part, especially with DNA submissions. And also for members to continue to communicate with us in a proactive way to allow us to fix and improve any issues, if these arise.

The IT team is constantly implementing enhancements to the REDSPro database, however, one to highlight this year is the new reporting metrics under the Data Entry > Online tab >Reporting Metrics.

A new resource, Red Resource, was released this summer. This living document consolidates deadlines, updates and key association information to improve member communication.

Committee & Affiliate Engagement

Committees continue to address directives of the Board, along with topics of discussion produced through each committee. Of note, the Affiliate Promotions Committee transformed the convention’s previous affiliate breakfast into an Affiliate Leadership Meeting, providing new resources and best practices to support education and engagement through state affiliates.

Communications & Outreach

The Red Angus Remarks podcast continues to grow, with top episodes featuring industry leaders and market insights.

The communications team earned multiple honors at the Ag Media Summit, including first-place awards for website, print ads and event programs, as well as several second place and honorable mention recognitions.

Other Updates

The long-standing Feeder Calf Certification Program was rebranded as Angus Access — offering the same USDA-verified standards with expanded market access through a partnership with Breedr’s ranch-to-rail management platform.

Red Angus was represented at the World Angus Forum in Brisbane, Australia, strengthening global relationships.

The 2nd annual Red Angus Youth Expo in Springfield, Missouri, featured 353 entries, 190 junior exhibitors and participation from 24 states and Canada.

Looking Ahead

The Association remains focused on executing its strategic plan and welcoming visionary leadership with the selection of the next Executive Vice President.

As we enter the 2025–2026 fiscal year, RAAA looks forward to supporting members, rebuilding the national cow herd “back red,” and capitalizing on strong market opportunities.

We are grateful for the dedication of our members and stakeholders. Please reach out to the RAAA staff with any questions or needs — we are here to serve you.

Thank you for your continued support of Red Angus.
